Description
Journal of Corpus Approaches to Chinese Social Science (JCACSS) applies cutting-edge corpus methods to the field of Chinese social sciences. The journal explores how to build upon existing quantitative and qualitative analysis methods in social scientific studies in the era of big data, and find new ways to analyze massive electronic texts. Its aims are to publish research outcomes that address the challenges brought by these issues, to provide an academic exchange platform for those with common interests, and to respond to the concerns posed to sociolinguists by the complex social problems of the global digital era.
The ESRC Centre for Corpus Approaches to Social Sciences (CASS) at Lancaster University is a pioneer in the application of corpus methods to various social science topics, such as the environment, crime, and health. Beginning with a workshop on corpus approaches to Chinese social sciences held in London in 2016, JCACSS was launched in 2021, under the guidance of the founding Director of CASS, Professor Tony McEnery, and with the support of colleagues both domestically and abroad, as well as the Global China Academy.
