China and Chinese in Comparative Perspectives Book series

China and Chinese in Comparative Perspectivespublishes books in English and Chinese. The first book of this series will be published by Global Century Press in 2024. It shares the same aims as Journal of China in Global and Comparative Perspectives, but expands comparative studies of China to includes Chinese ways of thinking, Chinese people, Chinese civilization, Chinese culture, Chinese language for social sciences (see also Journal of Chinese for Social Science), and contrasts between China and elsewhere, Chinese people and non-Chinese people, Chinese perspectives of the world or human knowledge, and non-Chinese perspectives of China in a global context.

Series editors

The China and Chinese in Comparative Perspectives book series will be edited jointly by Professor Xiangqun Chang, President of Global China Academy; Honorary Professor of University College London (2015–20), and another editor (to be confirmed).

Under our open access model, we make 80 percent of our content freely available to the public, promoting academic exchange and knowledge sharing. This means that readers can freely access and download certain chapters or portions of a book’s content, without any payment or subscription required.

At the same time, we also offer a subscription model, providing readers who need it with wider access and services. Through subscription, readers can gain access to the full content of books, special features or additional resources, as well as other benefits exclusive to subscribers.

This is significantly different from hybrid open access models which are typically based on the payment of the author or their institution. Through our dual model, we aim to balance considerations of public interest and commerciality, meeting a broad readership’s demand for open access, while also providing certain financial support for the sustainable development of Global Century Press.

Open access policy

Submissions

Global Century Press invites submissions of original, previously unpublished articles in English, Chinese or both languages. Comprehensive information on submissions (dual languages, articles and themes, book reviews, general submission guidelines, reviewing procedures, title page and affiliation, abstract, summary and keywords, word limits, presentation, referencing, tables and figures, permissions, notes on rendering Chinese names, examples of topics and themes) can be found in the GCP House Style Guide. Books that do not meet our requirements will be returned without consideration.
