Abstract: This is a brief introduction of the Chinese General Social Survey (CGSS) with a reference to the International General Social Survey (IGSS). It consists of two sections: outlining the IGSS in major countries and regions in the world, and introducing the situation in China which provides data chronicle of Social Change in China.

TANG Lina (唐丽娜, PhD in Sociology, Director of Data Management Department of National Survey Research Center, lecturer at the School of Sociology of Renmin University of China. She interests in research method of social survey, construction of data archives, data curation, data digging and visualization, religious sociology. Her major publications include Social Survey Data Curation—Using Stata 14 to Manage CGSS Data, East Asian Social Survey (2012)—Social Network and Social Capital.
