About the author

Chris Fuller (克里斯·富勒) FBA, is an emeritus professor of anthropology at the London School of Economics. He has studied and written extensively about the people of India, particularly with regard to subjects such as Hinduism, the caste system, and the relationship between globalisation and the middle-classes. His expertise includes South Asia; India and Hinduism; South Indian temples; religion and politics; globalisation and information technology; Tamil Brahman society and history. He is author of Tamil Brahmans: The Making of a Middle-Class Caste (with Haripriya Narasimhan, 2014), The Camphor Flame: Popular Hinduism and Indian Society (2004), The Renewal of the Priesthood: Modernity and Traditionalism in a South Indian Temple (2003).
