This chapter focus on the reports about the low-carbon concept from The New York Times and The Washington Post from 2000 to 2014. Both newspapers are among the most influential globally and are typical representatives of mainstream Western media. We have collected all articles from these two papers containing the term ‘low carbon’ from January 1, 2000, to December 31, 2014, totaling 439,031 words. The aim is to observe how both papers construct the low-carbon concept and the actions and policy orientations they reflect regarding the U.S.’s approach to global climate change. Moreover, it examines the significance of the low-carbon discourse in the interactions among the media, government, and the public, and the role these significances play in promoting the development of a low-carbon economy. We have created a document by year, counting the total number of low-carbon reports from the newspapers each year, to observe the distribution of their attention to the low-carbon topic over 15 years and identify significant moments within that timeframe.
